A Rock Concert A Thousand Miles Away

Hey, readers. In this post I'll tell you all about my family's trip to Berlin and the awesome rock concert that was held in that beautiful city

How the idea was born:

So a few years ago me and my family decided to go to a trip to the German capital - Berlin.

Why Berlin, I hear you ask. Well, my dearest reader, there is a very good reason why this specific city was chosen as the grand destination of our trip - a rock concert of one of the family's favorite bands was held there and we all wanted to go. It also appealed to us because of its location and the remarkable stuff that we'd previously heard about it. So it was settled - Berlin it was! Note: I wanted to call this post 'A rock concert a _ miles away' and see what is the actual distance between my home town and Berlin. And guess what? It is exactly 1000 miles away! It is an awesome coincidence, don't you think? :D Also, I'll be focusing on the trip itself, not the concert. So if you want to hear about that, let me know and I'll make a future post entirely about it

Now a bit about the trip itself...

Imagine this: The year is 2016, and the date - 03.03. A family wakes up early (as they like to do) and go off to catch a plane to Berlin, Germany. They're all very excited...

Now the first thing we did was, obviously, getting on a plane. This was really special for me, because it was the very first time I had flown on a plane. The only complaints I have are the crowded airport and the ear pain. The crowd is inevitable, I guess, when flying, but no-one warned me about the extreme pain I was in. For some crazy reason, my ears didn't pop properly during the ride, and the pressure in me got higher and higher the whole time. Obviously it was unpleasant and quite painful, to be honest. I tried everything, from chewing a piece of gum, to massaging my ears, throwing my hands in the air, yawning on purpose, speaking loudly and eating and drinking a lot. Nothing seemed to help. But we were soon off the plane and after a while (a couple of hours) mt ears went back to normal. Still not the best experience, but fortunately it didn't repeat on our way back - my guess is that's because the airplane was bigger and I was used to it already. Anyways, enough about my ears; the view from the plane was awesome and totally worth any ear pain:

After getting to their destination, the travelers were hungry and got something to eat. Then they explored the city a bit and got some great photos from their first day

If you're wondering what to visit if you go there, I recommend the Alexanderplatz, which is a big, big, main square and there are lots of stuff to see there, as well as the Berlin Cathedral (pic #15), The TV tower, Brandenburg Gate (pic #6), the Red Town Hall, the Reichstag (pics #8, 9, 10), the Victory column, one or a few of the many art galleries and museums. I've been to the aforementioned places and can confirm that the're really pretty.

On their second day the travelers visited the TV tower and spent a few hours spinning inside it and enjoying the stunning view

I highly recommend it - it is the tallest building in Berlin and you can see the whole town form up there. It spins around slowly, you can't even notice it, so you get a nice bird-eye view of every corner of Berlin. There is also a restaurant with comfy chairs and couches so you can enjoy the ride in piece. They make quite the ice-cream, too

On their third day the group went to the Berlin Aquarium and they saw a lot of fish and so much more marine life:

And here are basically all the Finding Nemo characters in one place

Finally, this mirror room was really cool

Later that day was the big event - the concert. The only picture I have, unfortunately, is this one: the truck that the band came with

Tired after the concert, the group decided to visit the Berlin Zoo the next day and they made some cool friends there

We even got to pet a goat! I have many, many pictures from the zoo, so if you want to see them tell me in the comments bellow and I will make a post entirely with those. If you're visiting, I suggest leave a whole day just for the zoo, there's really a lot to see there.

And finally, because this is getting too long, some honorable mentions:

Then, after a few more days filled with adventures, the passionate travelers had to go back home. But it was a nice experience, and one that they will remember for a long, long time.

The End

*I really left a lot of things out, so if you want a sequel, let me know down bellow. Thanks for reading, and I'll be glad to hear your stories in the comments, if you've visited Berlin, or if you maybe happen to live there. Share, please, it helps a lot! All the photos are provided by Katerina Pavlova, as usual. I hope you enjoyed, and I'll see you soon with a new post!
